Overview

Tyler Bennion is an associate in the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group where he practices primarily in complex construction litigation. As an experienced litigator, Tyler has handled cases for a wide variety of clients in diverse areas, including complex business and construction defect litigation, and lien and bond disputes. He has also represented owners, developers, general contractors, design professionals, and subcontractors of residential and commercial projects in construction defect cases and/or pre-suit construction matters where damages amounted in excess of the tens of millions of dollars. Tyler also has experience in defending various contractors in personal injury lawsuits relating to tort liability and construction premises liability.

Earlier in his career, Tyler served as an Assistant State Attorney in the Sixth Judicial Circuit where he was first and second chair for more than twenty felony and misdemeanor jury and non-jury trials in Circuit Court and County Court.

In his free time, Tyler enjoys working on his golf game, jogging and cycling off Bayshore Boulevard, and playing with his Golden Retriever, Charlie.

  • Represented various developers and general contractors in multiple complex construction defect lawsuits in Osceola County and Orange County, Florida, ranging anywhere up to nearly 400 townhome units.
  • Represented roofing and framing subcontractors in complex construction defect claims relating to condominium and townhome units in Sarasota County and Seminole County, Florida.
  • Represented painting subcontractor in lawsuit to resolve caulking and sealant installation claims in Seminole County, Florida.
  • Represented site contractor in lawsuit relating to alleged defective retention ponds, concrete and grading, and site conditions in Pinellas County, Florida.
  • Represented glass and glazing subcontractor in lawsuit in Miami-Dade County, Florida relating to installation defects surrounding initial construction in high-rise condominium tower.
  • Represented flooring subcontractor in construction defect lawsuit of high-rise condominium tower out of Miami-Dade County, Florida.
  • Represented design professional in lawsuit involving complex construction litigation in Hillsborough County, Florida.
  • Represented stucco subcontractor in lawsuit out of Miami-Dade County, Florida, regarding construction defect dispute surrounding large mixed-use project with two high-rise condominium towers.
  • Represented stucco subcontractors in lawsuits and arbitration proceedings of single-family home construction defect disputes throughout Florida.
  • Successfully mediated construction defect disputes with owners of real property on behalf of developers, general contractors, and subcontractors throughout the State of Florida.
  • Prepared claim(s) of lien for subcontractor in furtherance of protecting subcontractor’s rights surrounding completion of work and payment.
  • Represented window manufacturer in lawsuit against employee for personal injuries, which resulted in a successful summary judgment ruling in favor of our client.
