The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District) manages the water resources for west-central Florida as directed by law. Its mission is to protect water resources, minimize flood risks, and ensure the public’s water needs are met. The District was established in 1961 as a flood protection agency. Since then, its responsibilities have grown to include managing the water supply, protecting the water quality, and preserving natural systems that serve important water-related functions.
“I am honored and humbled to have been appointed by our Governor to serve on the Southwest Florida Water Management District,” said Robert G. Stern. “Water is one of our most precious resources, and it is crucial that we work together to protect and preserve it for future generations. I am committed to working with my fellow board members, stakeholders, and the community to ensure that our water resources are managed in a sustainable and responsible manner, while also promoting economic growth and environmental stewardship.”
